Spring is a time for beautiful blooms and pretty pastel hues, but these aren’t the only gorgeous details you could feature in your spring wedding theme. Think contrast, depth, bold accents and unique details that build on what the season naturally has to offer.
If you are hosting a spring wedding, choose a style that reflects you and compliments your surroundings.
Here are five of our favourite spring wedding ideas to help you design your day.
It could still be a little too cool or drizzly for an outdoor wedding, so if this is the case, ensure you bring a little of the outside in. Let the natural environment inspire you and opt for colours found in nature. Build on this by including natural materials and textures in your spring wedding scheme. Think wood and stone as table decor or rattan and pampas for a warm, earthy, bohemian feel.
If there was ever a season for embracing rich, climbing foliage and channelling a new growth theme, spring is it. Ask your florist to use blossom branches or greenery to create your wedding arch, and opt for seasonal blooms to create harmony between inside and out. Locally grown flowers are an environmentally conscious decision and can also be great for your budget.
Why not consider potted plants or trees as venue decor? It’s better for the environment than cut flowers, and nothing says spring more than potted herb centrepieces or tall potted trees inside warm, timber-filled barns.
Patterns are a fresh way to add a unique touch to your wedding day. Bridal dresses adorned with delicate floral applique are dominating bridal runways and fit beautifully with a spring wedding theme.
Consider adding more patterns like table linens which add depth to table decor. Why not ask your cake designer to add real pressed flowers to your wedding cake to complete the look?
Spring is a brilliant time of year to incorporate lanterns and delicate lighting because although the days are slightly longer, the evenings are still dark. Fill your wedding reception with uplighting and lanterns to add an instant atmosphere and turn your evening reception into a magical, atmospheric party.
Little packets of seeds make great wedding favours, particularly in spring when everything outside is beginning to grow. Encourage your guests to ‘let love grow’ with a seasonal seed mix that could also include flowers from your bouquet. Packets can double up as place cards or display them all in an old wheelbarrow, encouraging guests to help themselves.
Another great idea if you’re opting for potted centrepieces, is to gift one to each person at the table or to your bridal party as a special thanks.
There’s no better way to inspire your spring wedding theme than to showcase a handful of spring weddings we’ve been thrilled to host at Rivervale Barn, each entirely different and beautifully spring-like in their own way.
Michelle and Lee love all shades of blue, so this was a natural choice for their colour palette. They added touches of lace throughout the day for a really soft and elegant look. The couple also made all of the decorations, including the centrepieces and floral decorations, for their wedding ceremony and reception.
The use of a cool tone in spring is refreshingly different and calls to mind blue skies that suggest warmer, brighter months to come.
Jade and Ellis included lots of modern rustic details and wooden touches to their spring wedding. The natural styling, combined with a gorgeous midnight blue and dusty pink colour scheme, transformed Rivervale Barn for their memorable wedding.
Wooden elements look wonderful alongside floral decorations with lots of foliage, and the couple added lots of details, including pink chair ties, tiny tea lights and a ‘blackboard and chalk’ style welcome sign.
Dark accents such as the midnight blue chosen by Jade and Ellis is a strikingly original choice that works beautifully at a spring wedding. Dark colours add a moody vibe to a spring affair and make other colours pop, such as pinks and peaches.
Jade and Ellis served Pimms and peach Sangria at their reception, demonstrating another way to introduce bright and seasonally appropriate elements to a spring wedding day.
Kelly and Sam’s early spring wedding combined rustic details with seasonal florals, a delicate colour palette and amazing food and drink.
To create their rustic spring wedding theme, Kelly and Sam added lots of thoughtful details rather than big statement decorations. There was bunting, signage, wood slices, jam jars and lots of brilliant accessories. Kelly and Sam’s flowers were gorgeous and brought the best of spring into the barn in a delightfully natural way.
Caroline and Christopher’s spring wedding was a fabulous day full of good food, with just a hint of Disney! With lots of gorgeous rustic details and a lovely spring colour palette of peach, the day was as beautiful and relaxed as the couple had hoped.
Often, pastel hues are all a spring wedding needs to appear classic, elegant and in keeping with the natural environment.
